Accident Insurance for Land O' Lakes Residents
A fractured wrist or an urgent care visit can stick you with a deductible you did not budget for. Accident insurance pays you a fixed cash amount for covered injuries. We set plans from multiple carriers next to each other and explain clearly what each one pays.
How accident insurance works
Accident insurance is supplemental coverage and does not take the place of your health plan. After a covered accident, it pays a set dollar amount for each listed event on its benefit schedule, like an ER trip, an X-ray, a broken bone or a hospital stay. You receive the money, not the hospital, and you choose how to spend it.
Most buyers use it to fill what their main plan leaves unpaid: the deductible, coinsurance, an ambulance ride or wages lost during recovery. It fits best with a high-deductible health plan, kids in sports, or a job or hobbies that keep you active. If your current coverage already has a low deductible and solid benefits, we will tell you, and you may not need it.
What we go through on a consultation
The benefit schedule, explained
Each accident plan lists what it pays for and the amount. We go over it item by item so you can see how a sprained ankle payout compares with a broken leg.
At work or away from work
Some plans pay only for off-the-job accidents, since workers' comp is designed for workplace injuries. Others pay no matter where you get hurt. We point out which type each plan is.
Options from several carriers
We lay plans from different companies alongside each other, so you can weigh premiums and payouts without phoning each one.
Matched to your real gap
We start by finding what your main plan would leave you owing after an injury: deductible, coinsurance and your yearly maximum. Then we choose benefit amounts that cover that actual figure rather than a guess.
Just you, or everyone
Cover only yourself, add your spouse, or bring in the children. We price every version so the difference is clear.
Signs accident coverage is worth a look
Your deductible is in the thousands
If one injury would mean paying most of a high deductible yourself, a cash benefit can soften that hit.
Your kids play sports
Youth sports bring sprains, stitches and the occasional fracture. Florida's year-round outdoor seasons mean more chances for a fall.
You can't easily miss work
Self-employed or paid hourly, time off to heal costs you income. Accident benefits arrive as cash you can put toward bills.
You stay active
Running, biking, boating or working on a ladder on weekends all raise the odds of an injury that sends you to urgent care.
You're unsure what your current plan pays
If you don't know your out-of-pocket costs after an accident, a short call can answer that before you buy anything.
How a call with us works
- 1
You tell us what you have now
We ask about your current health plan, who you want covered and what worries you most. It takes a few minutes.
- 2
We pull plans side by side
We gather accident plans from multiple carriers and line up premiums, benefit amounts and any exclusions so they're easy to compare.
- 3
We explain the fine print
You'll hear what's excluded, whether there's a waiting period, and how claims get paid. If a plan isn't a good fit, we tell you why.
- 4
You choose, or you don't
There's no pressure to sign up on the call. If you pick a plan, we help with enrollment by phone or video, or you can meet us at our office.
What drives the cost of an accident plan
Among supplemental options, accident plans tend to be on the cheaper side, though premiums still range widely. Cost depends on who is covered and how much the plan pays. Before you sign up, we show how each choice shifts your monthly premium.
- People covered
- Insuring only yourself is cheaper than adding a spouse or kids. Many carriers charge one rate for children, so a second or third child often adds nothing more.
- Payout amounts
- Larger payments per fracture or per hospital day mean a larger premium. Many carriers sell low, middle and high levels.
- Whether job injuries count
- A plan that also pays for injuries at work generally costs more than one covering only accidents off the job.
- Optional extras
- Add-ons such as hospital admission or follow-up visit benefits increase the premium. We help you pick only the ones you would really use.
Questions people ask about accident coverage
Something not covered here? (813) 819-7976
Could accident insurance replace my health plan?
No. It works alongside a health plan and pays you cash when you have a covered injury. It does not pay for illness, routine checkups or ongoing care. If you still need main coverage, see our Individual Health Insurance and ACA Marketplace Plans pages.
Where does the claim money go?
To you. The plan pays you instead of the hospital or doctor, and you decide whether it goes to your deductible, rent, groceries or anything else.
Does the plan cover an injury I had before it started?
No. Accident plans pay only for covered accidents that happen after coverage begins. Some plans also have short waiting periods on certain benefits, and we point those out on each plan we show you.
Do you charge to help me compare plans?
No. The company you choose pays us, so our review costs you nothing. Your premium does not change, and you are free to say no after the call.
Can I cover just my kids with an accident plan?
That depends on the carrier. Most plans are built around one main policyholder, with a spouse and children added on. We will tell you which carriers offer the setup you have in mind.
